Gas Fireplace and Mantle
Bradford Construction was contracted to complete a gas fireplace installation in this West End
home in 2003. An oversized kitchen begged for a centre piece, that would add value to an entire floor.
The positioning of the unit is such that the warmth may be enjoyed from the kitchen itself or from the
living room through an arched doorway.
Our consultation and advice lead to the building of a hearth made of brick tile that offers a warm
country look without the weight of full bricks. Our craftsman created an oak mantle that compliments
both the fireplace and the room over all.
Part of the challenge with this project is the placement of the unit. In order to achieve the benefits of
the fireplace from both the kitchen and the living room, it had to be installed on an inside wall. This meant
that the venting requirements needed to encroach on a stairwell, without interfering with the openness of that space.
Our craftsmen were able to run the vent in such a way that no loss of useable space was needed... resulting in
a happy client and a beautiful fireplace!
